Alison + Ben / Sausalito, CA
A romantic and adventurous sailboat engagement on the Bay in San Francisco.
This was my first time ever getting asked to take photos on a sailboat and wow, it was a dream! When Alison reached out she explained to me that sailing is something that they love to do together and that they wanted to incorporate it into their engagement session. I thought this was the perfect idea! I always recommend centering your engagement session around something that you both love doing. The photos will always remain more special to you.
To prepare for their engagement session, Alison and Ben rented a sailboat from Modern Sailing in Sausalito, CA. On the day of the shoot, I met them at the marina and we set sail towards the skyline of the city.
We ended up getting extremely lucky with one of the calmest nights. We explored the coves along the coast and stopped at a variety of spots. I was in love with the houses that filled the hills on the shore of Sausalito. With the bright blue skies, and dark blue water I utilized direct light to really allow these colors to pop.
Alison and Ben wore two different outfits. I always encourage my couples to do this to add variety to the overall gallery. Alison’s first outfit consisted of an ivory linen blazer and pant set from Ralph Lauren. Her second look consisted of white linen pants and a tan sweater. Both outfits complemented the whole session beautifully.
We concluded the session by shooting until the last bit of light. Altogether, it was an evening I will never forget.
